Always check your verification e-mail immediately upon receipt. You can correct your ticket if a mistake is caught early enough, otherwise mistakes can cost extra time and money.

First, the facts. Passengers are not turned away at the gate because of a typo on their tickets. Airline systems sometimes have limits that abbreviate names or lack non-English characters. Last names and first names are frequently reversed. Ticket agents know this. Itinerary problems are another story.
